ܘܐܡܪ ܐܠܝܐ ܕܡܢ ܬܫܒܝ ܡܢ ܬܘ̈ܬܒܐ ܕܓܠܥܕ ܠܐܚܒ ܡܠܟܐ ܚܝ ܗܘ ܡܪܝܐ ܐܠܗܐ ܕܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܕܩܡܬ ܩܕܡܘܗܝ ܐܢ ܢܗܘܐ ܒܫ̈ܢܝܐ ܗܠܝܢ ܛܠܐ ܐܘ ܡܛܪܐ ܐܠܐ ܐܡܬܝ ܕܐܡܪ

Elijah the Tishbite, who was one of the settlers of Gilead, said to Ahab, “As Yahweh, the God of Israel, lives, before whom I stand, there shall not be dew nor rain these years, but according to my word.”

ܘܗܘܐ ܥܠܘܗܝ ܦܬܓܡܗ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܘܐܡܪ ܠܗ

Then Yahweh’s word came to him, saying,

ܙܠ ܡܟܐ ܘܐܬܦܢܝ ܠܟ ܠܡܕܢܚܐ ܘܐܬܛܫܐ ܒܢܚܠܐ ܕܟܪܝܬ ܕܩܕܡ ܝܘܪܕܢܢ
ywrdnn dqdm dkryth bnkhl' w'thTsh' lmdnkh' lk w'thpny mk' zl
“Go away from here, turn eastward, and hide yourself by the brook Cherith, that is before the Jordan.

ܘܡܢ ܢܚܠܐ ܗܘܝܬ ܫܬܐ ܘܠܥܘܪ̈ܒܐ ܦܩܕܬ ܕܢܬܪܣܘܢܟ ܬܡܢ
thmn dnthrswnk pqdth wlewrb' shth' hwyth nkhl' wmn
You shall drink from the brook. I have commanded the ravens to feed you there.”

ܘܐܙܠ ܘܥܒܕ ܐܝܟ ܦܬܓܡܗ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܘܐܙܠ ܘܝܬܒ ܒܢܚܠܐ ܕܟܪܝܬ ܕܩܕܡ ܝܘܪܕܢܢ
ywrdnn dqdm dkryth bnkhl' wythb w'zl dmry' pthgmh 'yk webd w'zl
So he went and did according to Yahweh’s word, for he went and lived by the brook Cherith that is before the Jordan.

ܘܥܘܪ̈ܒܐ ܡܝܬܝܢ ܠܗ ܠܚܡܐ ܘܒܣܪܐ ܒܨܦܪܐ ܘܠܚܡܐ ܘܒܣܪܐ ܒܪܡܫܐ ܘܡܢ ܢܚܠܐ ܫܬܐ ܡ̈ܝܐ
my' shth' nkhl' wmn brmsh' wbsr' wlkhm' btspr' wbsr' lkhm' lh mythyn wewrb'
The ravens brought him bread and meat in the morning, and bread and meat in the evening; and he drank from the brook.

ܘܡܢ ܒܬܪ ܝܘܡ̈ܬܐ ܝܒܫܘ ܢܚ̈ܠܐ ܡܛܠ ܕܠܐ ܢܚܬ ܡܛܪܐ ܒܐܪܥܐ
b're' mTr' nkhth dl' mTl nkhl' ybshw ywmth' bthr wmn
After a while, the brook dried up, because there was no rain in the land.

ܘܗܘܐ ܥܠܘܗܝ ܦܬܓܡܗ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܠܡܐܡܪ
lm'mr dmry' pthgmh elwhy whw'
Yahweh’s word came to him, saying,

ܩܘܡ ܙܠ ܠܨܪܦܬ ܨܝܕܢ ܘܬܒ ܬܡܢ ܗܐ ܦܩܕܬ ܬܡܢ ܠܐܢܬܬܐ ܐܪܡܠܬܐ ܕܬܬܪܣܝܟ
dththrsyk 'rmlth' l'nthth' thmn pqdth h' thmn wthb tsydn ltsrpth zl qwm
“Arise, go to Zarephath, which belongs to Sidon, and stay there. Behold, I have commanded a widow there to sustain you.”

ܘܩܡ ܐܙܠ ܠܨܪܦܬ ܘܥܠ ܒܬܪܥܐ ܕܩܪܝܬܐ ܘܚܙܐ ܬܡܢ ܐܢܬܬܐ ܐܪܡܠܬܐ ܕܩܫܐ ܩܝ̈ܣܐ ܘܩܪܗ ܘܐܡܪ ܠܗ ܐܝܬܝ ܠܝ ܩܠܝܠ ܡ̈ܝܐ ܒܡܐܢܐ ܐܫܬܐ
'shth' bm'n' my' qlyl ly 'ythy lh w'mr wqrh qys' dqsh' 'rmlth' 'nthth' thmn wkhz' dqryth' bthre' wel ltsrpth 'zl wqm
So he arose and went to Zarephath; and when he came to the gate of the city, behold, a widow was there gathering sticks. He called to her and said, “Please get me a little water in a jar, that I may drink.”

ܘܐܙܠܬ ܠܡܝܬܝܘ ܠܗ ܘܩܪܗ ܘܐܡܪ ܠܗ ܐܝܬܝ ܠܝ ܦܬܬܐ ܕܠܚܡܐ ܒܐܝܕܟܝ
b'ydky dlkhm' pthth' ly 'ythy lh w'mr wqrh lh lmythyw w'zlth
As she was going to get it, he called to her and said, “Please bring me a morsel of bread in your hand.”

ܘܐܡܪܬ ܚܝ ܗܘ ܡܪܝܐ ܐܠܗܟ ܐܢ ܐܝܬ ܠܝ ܡܕܡ ܐܠܐ ܐܢ ܡܠܐ ܟܦܐ ܩܡܚܐ ܒܩܘܠܬܐ ܘܩܠܝܠ ܡܫܚܐ ܒܩܪܢܐ ܘܗܐ ܩܫܐ ܐܢܐ ܬܪ̈ܝܢ ܩܝ̈ܣܝܢ ܕܐܙܠ ܐܥܒܕ ܠܝ ܘܠܒܪܝ ܘܢܐܟܘܠ ܘܢܡܘܬ
wnmwth wn'kwl wlbry ly 'ebd d'zl qysyn thryn 'n' qsh' wh' bqrn' mshkh' wqlyl bqwlth' qmkh' kp' ml' 'n 'l' mdm ly 'yth 'n 'lhk mry' hw khy w'mrth
She said, “As Yahweh your God lives, I don’t have anything baked, but only a handful of meal in a jar and a little oil in a jar. Behold, I am gathering two sticks, that I may go in and bake it for me and my son, that we may eat it, and die.”

ܘܐܡܪ ܠܗ ܐܠܝܐ ܠܐ ܬܕܚܠܝܢ ܙܠܝ ܘܥܒܕܝ ܐܝܟ ܕܐܡܪܬܝ ܒܠܚܘܕ ܥܒܕ ܟܟܘܠܬܐ ܙܥܘܪܬܐ ܩܕܡܝܬ ܘܐܦܩܝ ܠܝ ܘܠܟܝ ܘܠܒܪܟܝ ܥܒܕܝ ܒܚܪܬܐ
bkhrth' ebdy wlbrky wlky ly w'pqy qdmyth zewrth' kkwlth' ebd blkhwd d'mrthy 'yk webdy zly thdkhlyn l' 'ly' lh w'mr
Elijah said to her, “Don’t be afraid. Go and do as you have said; but make me a little cake from it first, and bring it out to me, and afterward make some for you and for your son.

ܡܛܠ ܕܗܟܢܐ ܐܡܪ ܡܪܝܐ ܐܠܗܐ ܕܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܩܘܠܬܐ ܕܩܡܚܐ ܠܐ ܬܓܡܪ ܘܩܪܢܐ ܕܡܫܚܐ ܠܐ ܬܚܣܪ ܥܕܡܐ ܠܝܘܡܐ ܕܢܬܠ ܡܪܝܐ ܡܛܪܐ ܥܠ ܐ̈ܦܝ ܐܪܥܐ

For Yahweh, the God of Israel, says, ‘The jar of meal will not run out, and the jar of oil will not fail, until the day that Yahweh sends rain on the earth.’”

ܘܐܙܠܬ ܘܥܒܕܬ ܐܝܟ ܦܬܓܡܗ ܕܐܠܝܐ ܘܐܟܠܬ ܗܝ ܘܗܘ ܘܒܢ̈ܝ ܒܝܬܗ ܒܝ̈ܘܡܬܐ ܗܢܘܢ
hnwn bywmth' bythh wbny whw hy w'klth d'ly' pthgmh 'yk webdth w'zlth
She went and did according to the saying of Elijah; and she, he, and her household ate many days.

ܠܐ ܩܘܠܬܐ ܕܩܡܚܐ ܓܡܪܬ ܘܠܐ ܩܪܢܐ ܕܡܫܚܐ ܚܣܪܬ ܐܝܟ ܦܬܓܡܗ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܕܡܠܠ ܒܐܝܕܐ ܕܐܠܝܐ
d'ly' b'yd' dmll dmry' pthgmh 'yk khsrth dmshkh' qrn' wl' gmrth dqmkh' qwlth' l'
The jar of meal didn’t run out and the jar of oil didn’t fail, according to Yahweh’s word, which he spoke by Elijah.

ܘܡܢ ܒܬܪ ܦܬ̈ܓܡܐ ܗܠܝܢ ܐܬܟܪܗ ܒܪܗ ܕܐܢܬܬܐ ܡܪܬ ܒܝܬܐ ܘܗܘܐ ܟܘܪܗܢܗ ܥܫܝܢ ܛܒ ܥܕܡܐ ܕܠܐ ܐܫܬܚܪܬ ܒܗ ܢܫܡܬܐ

After these things, the son of the woman, the mistress of the house, became sick; and his sickness was so severe that there was no breath left in him.

ܘܐܡܪܬ ܠܐܠܝܐ ܡܐ ܠܝ ܘܠܟ ܢܒܝܗ ܕܐܠܗܐ ܐܬܝܬ ܥܠܝ ܠܡܕܟܪܘ ܚ̈ܘܒܝ ܘܠܡܩܛܠ ܒܪܝ
bry wlmqTl khwby lmdkrw ely 'thyth d'lh' nbyh wlk ly m' l'ly' w'mrth
She said to Elijah, “What have I to do with you, you man of God? You have come to me to bring my sin to memory, and to kill my son!”

ܘܐܡܪ ܠܗ ܐܠܝܐ ܗܒ ܠܝ ܒܪܟܝ ܘܢܣܒܗ ܡܢ ܥܘܒܗ ܘܐܣܩܗ ܠܥܠܝܬܐ ܐܝܟܐ ܕܥܡܪ ܗܘܐ ܘܐܪܡܝܗ ܒܥܪܣܗ
bersh w'rmyh hw' demr 'yk' lelyth' w'sqh ewbh mn wnsbh brky ly hb 'ly' lh w'mr
He said to her, “Give me your son.” He took him out of her bosom, and carried him up into the room where he stayed, and laid him on his own bed.

ܘܩܪܐ ܠܡܪܝܐ ܘܐܡܪ ܡܪܝܐ ܐܠܗܐ ܐܦ ܥܠ ܐܪܡܠܬܐ ܗܕܐ ܕܥܡܪ ܐܢܐ ܥܡܗ ܐܒܐܫܬ ܠܡܩܛܠ ܒܪܗ
brh lmqTl 'b'shth emh 'n' demr hd' 'rmlth' el 'p 'lh' mry' w'mr lmry' wqr'
He cried to Yahweh and said, “Yahweh my God, have you also brought evil on the widow with whom I am staying, by killing her son?”

ܘܐܬܡܫܚ ܥܠ ܛܠܝܐ ܬܠܬ ܙܒܢܝ̈ܢ ܘܩܪܐ ܠܡܪܝܐ ܘܐܡܪ ܡܪܝܐ ܐܠܗܝ ܬܗܦܘܟ ܢܦܫܗ ܕܛܠܝܐ ܗܢܐ ܠܓܘܗ
lgwh hn' dTly' npshh thhpwk 'lhy mry' w'mr lmry' wqr' zbnyn thlth Tly' el w'thmshkh
He stretched himself on the child three times, and cried to Yahweh and said, “Yahweh my God, please let this child’s soul come into him again.”

ܘܫܡܥ ܡܪܝܐ ܒܩܠܗ ܕܐܠܝܐ ܘܗܦܟܬ ܢܦܫܗ ܕܛܠܝܐ ܠܓܘܗ ܘܚܝܐ
wkhy' lgwh dTly' npshh whpkth d'ly' bqlh mry' wshme
Yahweh listened to the voice of Elijah; and the soul of the child came into him again, and he revived.

ܘܢܣܒܗ ܐܠܝܐ ܠܛܠܝܐ ܘܐܚܬܗ ܡܢ ܥܠܝܬܐ ܠܒܝܬܐ ܘܝܗܒܗ ܠܐܡܗ ܘܐܡܪ ܠܗ ܐܠܝܐ ܚܙܝ ܕܚܝܐ ܒܪܟܝ
brky dkhy' khzy 'ly' lh w'mr l'mh wyhbh lbyth' elyth' mn w'khthh lTly' 'ly' wnsbh
Elijah took the child and brought him down out of the room into the house, and delivered him to his mother; and Elijah said, “Behold, your son lives.”

ܘܐܡܪܬ ܗܫܐ ܝܕܥܬ ܕܢܒܝܗ ܐܢܬ ܕܐܠܗܐ ܘܡܠܬܗ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܒܦܘܡܟ ܒܩܘܫܬܐ
bqwshth' bpwmk dmry' wmlthh d'lh' 'nth dnbyh ydeth hsh' w'mrth
The woman said to Elijah, “Now I know that you are a man of God, and that Yahweh’s word in your mouth is truth.”
